Dealing with Challenging Situations

This practical, face-to-face workshop aims to build and practice communication skills necessary for handling challenging situations such as resolving or mediating a conflict. Participants work together on collaborative tasks to identify clear guidelines for addressing and handling a repeated mistake or behavioural issue in a constructive manner. The course provides realistic situational exercises to practice and get feedback on the use of assertive tools and how to approach and talk about uncomfortable topics.

Participants who complete the course will be able to

  • Recognise their own strengths and areas to develop in challenging interpersonal situations and be better prepared to use this self-awareness
  • Select and use a range of techniques to deal with ‘people problems’
  • Practice communication skills outside their comfort zone in a non-risk environment and receive constructive feedback for improvement
